UAE police nab four persons for robbing from RAK shop

The Criminal Investigation Department of Ras Al Khaimah Police on Thursday arrested four Arab men who allegedly robbed Dh21,000 from a shop in the emirate.

Brigadier Abdullah Al Munkis, director of the Criminal and Investigation Department, said the suspects were arrested within 24 hours of the crime being committed.

The police received a complaint from the shop owner reporting the theft.

Police investigation revealed that the gang had broken and removed the back door of the shop, broke open the cash box and stole the cash. They managed to identify one of the suspects who was living in Ajman.

The suspect confessed to the crime and informed the police about his three accomplices who were then arrested.

Police investigation revealed that the four suspects, who had a criminal record, were deported from the country after serving jail terms previously but they re-entered the country illegally.

The suspects were referred to the public prosecution.

Brigadier Al Munkis thanked Ajman Police for their cooperation.

Brigadier Al Munkis urged business owners to secure their premises and not leave cash or valuable items in shops and make sure their CCTV cameras are active.

He said a surprise inspection campaign has been launched to check if all shops in the emirate have installed the mandatory surveillance cameras.
