Gauri murder: Karnataka govt announces reward for clues

The Karnataka Government on Friday announced a sum of Rs 10 lakh for anyone who provided essential clues pertaining to the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh. This was announced by Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy after he met with chief minister Siddaramaiah.

Reddy said that the chief minister had also directed the Special Investigation Team to aggravate their search. Following which, enough people were deployed on the job to get the best results from the investigation. Reddy further added, “We’ll know everything after the investigation.”

Inside sources suggest that the investigating team will look into all aspects, including the involvement of political parties and Naxalite groups. Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah is likely to chair a meeting with the government top brass today.

Simultaneously, officials from the ballistics and the Forensic Science Laboratory visited Gauri’s house on Friday to double-check on the details they gathered from the reconstruction of the crime on that ill-fated day.

The sensational murder of the journalist brewed up a National storm. The recent being, BJP’s Ravi Shankar Prasad’s questioning of the Siddaramaiah government as to why it did not provide the senior journalist security. As the right-wing party RSS-BJP came under attack after the gruesome murder, it lambasted the opposition for being negligent in providing the security of the journalist. Meanwhile, VHP asked for a CBI probe in the matter, expressing suspicion that the murder could be a Congress conspiracy.
