Video: Sheikh Mohammed attends ‘virtual’ wedding in Dubai

In an unusual ceremony, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and ruler of Dubai, was a witness to a marriage agreement between two of his work team members.

But what was unsual about Omar Al Alma and Amal Bin Shabib’s marriage wasn’t only the fact that Dubai ruler was one of the witnesses. Their marriage agreement was made via a smart robotic system that connected their families and witnesses to a judge in Dubai courts.

On a video posted on Sheikh Mohammed’s Twitter account, a judge was seen on a smart screen presiding over the marriage where the groom and the father of the bride were exchanging the prenuptial agreement. Mohammad Abdulla Al Gergawi, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs & the Future in the Federal Government of UAE and the Chairman of the Executive Office of Sheikh Mohammed was also present at the ceremony.

The marriage agreement took place in a new center titled “Services 1” established in Emirates Towers that combines 14 governmental services under one roof.

Developed by UAE government in collaboration with Artificial Intelligence technology using IBM’s Watson cognitive computing system, the center’s aim is to provide customers with smart services on one go and under one employee.
