Time to move on, footprints to identify offenders in Dubai

Dubai police officials working on adding more advanced options in their Kinetic Footprint Technology to nab criminals. The technology has helped the Dubai police to identify 26 suspects in various cases. The technology is approved to use in finding pieces of evidence in cases.

The Kinetic Footprint Technology(KFT) uses the various walking styles of humans and store the database for future reference. According to Dubai Police’s Science and Criminology Department Major Dr. Hamad Al Awar the walking patterns of every individual is unique.

The KFT analyses the various elements like the rotation of feet, the pressure applied to the ground and other marks. He added that offenders can no longer hope to escape unnoticed even before committing a crime. The KFT uses special algorithms to identify the suspect by studying his biometric walking pattern.

Kinesiology is the study of the human and non-human, animal body movement, performance and function. The kinetic footprint system uses artificial intelligence to arrive at its conclusions.

Dubai Police is the first in the Middle East to use body movement identification to solve the crime. In case of absence in any of the evidence like fingerprints police can use security camera footage. The highly sophisticated biometric software helps to identify unique facial characteristics of known or wanted criminal.
