UAE: the future capital of the world, embraces advancements

UAE has become a global hub for the future industry and an established platform to forecast upcoming challenges.  UAE has the capabilities to become the world’s future capital.

“It (UAE) has kept pace with technology and made life easier for people as the world enters its next phase of growth, the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” said His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai at the second Annual Meetings of the Global Future Councils (AMGFC), which kick off on the 11th of November in Dubai in partnership between the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum (WEF)

The two-day event will see the participation of over 700 scholars and future experts from 75 countries. Attendees will convene in 35 councils, each of which addresses key issues in a vital strategic sector, and work to propose practical solutions for the challenges that are likely to arise.

UAE was hailed for its innovative ideas and the country’s visionary leadership has a clear vision for the future by Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of WEF.

Shaikh Mohammad said that forecasting the future has proved pivotal for government successful government work and empowering citizens, and it is no longer study material in research centers and academic institutions.

The second edition of the Future Councils gathers a high-profile group of researchers and experts in future-centric sciences to look into the future of 35 strategic sectors.

These include the Fourth Industrial Revolution, artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology, energy, water, technology, transport, space travel, health, and high-tech education, among others.

Building on the UAE’s status as a global hub for the future industry, the event provides a platform for attendees to exchange knowledge, expertise, best practices, and success stories in order to develop proactive solutions to the challenges in the near, medium and long-term.

The councils’ outcomes are the valuable raw material that governments around the region and the world can use in developing their strategies and programs for the future.

For over 10 years, Schwab said the UAE has been a hub for WEF’s annual meetings. “Today, here in Dubai, I am proud that our collaboration is entering its most exciting phase yet, and look forward to working with the country and its leaders as they look to build a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable future in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

“I am already very satisfied with the contribution they are making to the work of the Forum. In addition to their role as advisory bodies for the Forum’s initiatives, the Councils is increasingly finding ways of collaborating with our new center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in San Francisco.”
