When US President Donald Trump returned to America after a long Asia Tour, this picture of him taking a sip of water while addressing a press conference went viral, since first, he couldn’t find the bottle and, second, the way he puckered up to take a sip, holding the bottle with both hands. The photo led to quite a photoshop battle on several social media platforms.

Like every year, this time too, the celebrations kick-started with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech at the Red Fort. But among the beautifully lit monuments and kites soaring high, it was this picture of kids at a school in Assam saluting the National Flag that broke the Internet.

The photo of a policeman standing with his hands folded in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district in front of a man on a motorcycle with four of his family members riding pillion went viral. The incident happened when Circle Inspector B Shubh Kumar of Anantapur’s Madakasira Circle, who was going to work, saw the man, K Hanumantharayudu, on a bike with his two sons sitting on the fuel tank, his wife behind him and a relative on edge of the seat.

In what stands as a testimony to MS Dhoni’s undying popularity, a fan, during the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka in Mohali, ran towards Dhoni and touched his feet. The photo, shared by The Indian Cricket team on their Instagram account soon went viral.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that social media closely follows US President Donald Trump’s every move. Trump, on his part, does give plenty of fodder for discussion. In 2017, a picture of a dog’s ear infection has caught the attention of people on social media. Owner of two-year-old beagle, Jade Robinson posted a picture of his pet’s ear infection on November 5 and wrote on Twitter: “The inside of my dog’s ear looks like Donald Trump”, making it yet another viral photo of 2017.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was in Germany for a four-country tour of Europe, had met Priyanka Chopra, who was also in Berlin for the promotion of her movie Baywatch. The two met, and this picture went viral for all the wrong reasons as the actor was slut-shammed for her choice of dress.

The much-loved couple of the country Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli finally put rest to their ‘alleged’ and ‘rumoured’ relationship reports as they walked down the aisle in Italy on December 11. Sharma posted this picture and broke the news on Instagram, while setting the record for this year’s Golden Tweet as well.

A breathtaking picture of ‘India during Diwali as seen from the cosmos’ had gone viral on social media. The picture was shared by astronaut Paolo Nespoli (@astro_paolo), with the message: “The Hindu Festival of Lights, starts today #HappyDiwali to everyone! #VITAmission.” Since it was taken by an astronaut, the picture was automatically assumed to be authentic. A couple of days later, a Twitter user had managed to dig out and tweet that the photograph was originally shared by the astronaut on his Flickr account on September 29, 2017, nearly a month before Diwali!
