Won’t Smile? No Problem, We Will ‘Photoshop’ it; Russian State TV photoshops a fake smile on Kim Jong Un’s face

The North Korean President Kim Kong Un is probably a hard man to please. But does that mean you have to make it look like he is pleased ?

Russia has been accused of trying to play up their bond with North Korea by faking a smile on Kim Kong Uns face, as he shook hands with a Moscow diplomat. It was on Thursday that the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and other delegates met North Korea’s leader, shaking hands and trading pleasantries. This trip was more about the symbolism , with less than two weeks to go for Kim’s much awaited meeting with Trump.

In the photograph with Lavrov, Kim wasn’t smiling and Kremlin seemed to have taken it seriously. When Russia’s state channel Russia 1 broadcasted it’s weekly news review on Sunday, Kim’s stern look had given way for a pleasing smile. The anchor declared that the trip showed “the now common Russia-North Korean position”.

Social media soon spotted the difference and they started mocking by juxtaposing the original and the faked picture . Dmitry Kiselyov who runs the news week program in the channel said that the image was genuine.” The photographs are taken with high shutter speed lenses, so all sorts of phases of expression turn out”. he added

But the footage released by Russian foreign ministry clearly showed that Kim’s face was still while facing cameras.
