Record messages on New Year’s Eve

All we know that WhatsApp has become the most widely-used messaging service all across the globe. The Facebook-owned chat service says that India is its biggest market and the numbers of New Year’s Eve are a proof of it. WhatsApp users in India sent more than 20 billion messages on New Year’s Eve, the company announced on Thursday.

“New Year’s Eve was WhatsApp’s biggest messaging day ever, closing out a successful year for the company that included the introduction of several new features,” WhatsApp said in a press statement.

These messages were sent between 12 am till 11.59 pm on December 31. The new figure is higher than last year. The Indian users had 14 billion messages last year’s New Year’s Eve. WhatsApp currently has over 200 monthly active users in India.

“New Year’s Eve was WhatsApp’s biggest messaging day ever, closing out a successful year for the company that included the introduction of several new features. The five most popular WhatsApp features of 2017 included- Video calling, Live Location, Delete for Everyone, Status with more than 300 million daily active users and new Album View for Photos. These were the top five features of year 2017.

 

WhatsApp also made a new record globally with more than 75 billion messages sent by its users. These 75 billion messages included 13 billion images and five billion videos.

WhatsApp working on Facebook-like stickers

WhatsApp launches new feature almost every day. Only a day ago we learnt that the chat app is working on feature that will let its users share their Instagram stories as WhatsApp Status. Now there are fresh reports that the chat app is working on to make chats more engaging and interesting by adding Facebook-like stickers.

WABetaInfo which is the fan site of WhatsApp has revealed that the WhatsApp beta version 2.17.443 on the Google Play Store comes with this feature. In a screenshot shared by the site, a sticker option can be seen between emojis and GIFs.
