Baahubali 2 couldn’t break this superstar’s movie record

Baahubali:2 The Conclusion is said to have toppled many records. The Hindi version of it had broken the records of opening of movies such as Aamir Khan’s Dangal and Salman’s Sultan.
But it could not break the opening record of King Khan’s Happy New Year, to be the highest earning in its opening day.
SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is breaking box-office records left, right and centre. Made on a budget of Rs 250 crore, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has already grossed over Rs 600 crore worldwide.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is the sequel to the 2015 blockbuster Baahubali: The Beginning. Actors Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Sathyaraj, Nassar, Tamannaah and Ramya Krishnan have reprised their roles from the original film in Baahubali 2. The first film ended on a cliff-hanger where the ever-loyal Kattappa was seen stabbing Baahubali from behind. Audiences all over India were eager to know for the next two years as to why Kattappa killed Baahubali. Much of the Baahubali 2 craze has been attributed just to people wanting answers to “Why Kattappa killed Baahubali?”.

Among the many records Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has broken, some of the main ones are:

  • Highest ever first-day box office collection: Rs 121 crore (all languages)
  • Highest ever weekend box-office collection: Rs 128 crore (Baahubali 2’s Hindi version)
  • Has crossed Rs 500 crore in three days (gross box-office collections worldwide)
  • Highest opening ever for a dubbed film; Baahubali 2’s Hindi version earned Rs 41 crore on its opening day.

Now, Baahubali 2’s Hindi version earned Rs 41 crore on its opening day and thereby beat Aamir Khan’s Dangal (Rs 29.78 crore) and Salman Khan’s Sultan (Rs 36.54 crore) respectively at the box office as far as first-day collections are concerned.

However, Baahubali 2’s Hindi version could not beat Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year in the opening-day box-office collection fame. SRK’s Happy New Year made Rs 45 crore on its opening day. In the list of all-time top opening day collection, Happy New Year starring Shah Rukh Khan tops the list followed by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Salman Khan-starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
