Energy Efficient lights to light up Dubai buildings

Dubai Lamps, the LED lamps that is considered by the most energy-efficient in the world will be installed in the buildings in Dubai.
The Dubai Lamp is the fruit of a unique research partnership between Philips Lighting and Dubai Municipality.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between  Dubai Municipality and Emaar and Dubai Properties Group (DPG) , where they will install Dubai Lamps in their properties.
The MoU between Emaar was signed by Eng Hussain Nasser Lootah, director-general of Dubai Municipality, and Ahmed Al Matrooshi, member of the board of directors of Emaar. The MoU with Dubai Properties Group was signed by Khalid Sharif Al Awadhi, assistant director-general of Dubai Municipality for environment, health and safety control sector and Abdulla Mohammed Lahej, chief executive officer of Dubai Properties Group.
As per the agreement, the Dubai Municipality will coordinate with the other parties in installing the Dubai Lamp in their buildings and facilities, as well as help conduct studies to evaluate the savings achieved through the installation of the lamps. The agreement is signed for four years, which can be renewed before the end of the term on the basis of official communication between the parties.
Dubai Municipality will also coordinate with the other parties in conducting promotions and advertisements of Dubai Lamp through different media.
As per the MOUs the two companies will conduct feasibility studies to install Dubai Lamp in their existing and upcoming projects. “The combination of efforts and exchange of knowledge between government departments and different institutions will reflect on the various services in the country’s economy,” said Lootah.
He pointed out that the Dubai Lamp is an innovative, sustainable and comprehensive vision that will be the first-of-its-kind in the region “It will have economic and environmental implications, done through community awareness. The awareness will be based on sustainability and conservation of resources, while maintaining the lifestyle, and thus reduce the volume of carbon emissions,” said Lootah.
Paolo Cervini, president of Philips Lighting, Middle East and Turkey, said that Philips is very pleased to see two major real estate companies collaborating with Dubai Municipality to expand the visionary goals set as part of the Dubai Lamp Initiative. “The Dubai Lamp is an innovation that Philips Lighting is very proud off, on a global level. Its ground-breaking technology and unmatched energy efficiency along with its ever-growing adoption will not only bring positive change in consumer behaviour, but also contribute to Dubai’s sustainability goals and its commitment to a green economy,” he added.
The Municipality’s applied sustainability and renewable energy department has worked on this unique initiative, through a partnership between Dubai Municipality and Philips, which is the largest manufacturer of LED lamps. Dubai Municipality and Philips Lighting are preparing for the supply of two million Dubai Lamps for residential and professional use across the city in 2017, which is expected to be increased to 10 million lamps by 2021.
The lamp is available in four models both in cool daylight and warm white colours: 1W candle lamp to replace 25W incandescent lamp, 2W bulb to replace 40W incandescent lamp, 3W bulb to replace 60W incandescent lamp, 3W MR16 spot to replace 50W halogen spots.
Al Awadhi said the Dubai Lamp initiative aims to meet the current and future challenges facing the energy sector. “The initiative promotes the practice of continuing to strive for responsible and rational use of fuel in the global economy. The encouragement to expedite safe and timely transition, towards renewable energy sources will help appropriate sustainable energy, accessible to everyone,” he said.
Dubai Lamp is considered to be the most energy-efficient LED lamp in the world, and is available in four of the most commonly used lamps for residential indoor lighting. The Dubai Lamp initiative is the fruit of a unique research partnership between Philips Lighting and Dubai Municipality, resulting in the development of the world’s first commercially available, 200 lumen per Watt LED lamp.
