Kerala will be announced as a fully electrified state this month. Power Minister M.M Mani told this in state assembly yesterday. The date for declaration has not decided yet.
Governor P. Sathashivam had mentioned it earlier while addressing Republic Day. By providing electricity to 2.5 lakh more houses, the deceleration will be finalized.
When replying to the question hours in assembly, M.M Mani had said that government is planning to take further steps in promoting solar energy projects and renewable energy source. Special facilities will organize under Kerala State Electricity Board to develop solar projects. Apart from the subsidy granted by central government, a grant of Rs 10,000 was given by the state for a one-kilowatt solar project, the minister said.
He also mentions the importance of examining meters place on street lights and transformers on panchayath level.
