No more Acacia and Eucalyptus from June 5: A unique government planning

When the state had been hit by drought, everyone is looking forward to the plans of governments to be implanted on world environmental day. But this year it is going to be a bit different than the previous year. The government is planning to take down trees like Acacia and Eucalyptus, which cause ecological in balance. The project has been planning to do under “Haritha Kerala” along with the support of ‘Kudumbasree’ associations.

Other than cutting trees like Acacia government had planned a massive tree planting ceremony on the day. Department of the forest will provide 72 lakh tree saplings, while the agricultural department will provide 5 lakhs saplings to the project.

A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has reviewed the project development so far. The project is likely to involve school students and distribute 40 lakhs of sapling among the students. Each student will get one sapling each.
