The Supreme Court, today said that it will examine the legal validity of polygamy and nikah-halala in addition to the ongoing deliberation on triple talaq.
Previously SC had commented that Triple talaq is the worst form of marriage dissolution. Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi pointed out to a 7-judge bench headed by CJI that the reference order mentioned all three issues for adjudication.
Earlier Supreme Court agreed and said it will first decide the validity of triple talaq and after giving a decision on this will take up polygamy and nikah-halala.
