MP witnessed two farmers’ suicides in 24 hours

Madhya Pradesh witnessed two more farmers suicides in the last 24 hours.

State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is expected to visit Mandsaur tomorrow.

The two suicides continue to headline the plight of farmers in Madhya Pradesh. this followed a violent protest in Mandsaur and other places last week. This protest resulted in the death of at least six farmers in police firing.

Monday, the Madhya Pradesh government also appointed Justice JK Jain (retd) to head the one-member judicial commission police firing in Mandsaur.

The farmers in Madhya Pradesh are on strike from June 1 demanding loan waiver and remunerative prices for their produce.

Chouhan sat on indefinite fast in capital Bhopal to placate the protesting mob. He ended with a few announcements to benefit the farming community in the state. On Sunday, Chouhan ended his day-old fast.
