Pak baby loses battle due to dehydration

In a tragic twist of fate, a four-month old Pakistani baby boy, who was granted medical visa by External Affairs Ministry; to undergo a heart surgery in India passed away recently in Pakistan.

Rohaan (baby boy) had come to India on July 12 had a hole in his heart along with a condition called dextro-transposition of the great arteries. Due to this disease, Rohaan’s pressure of lungs was going up quickly and there was a shortage of clean blood in different parts of his body. He was operated by the Indian doctors on July 14 in Noida.

Siddiqui who was unable to fetch a medical visa on May 24 had tweeted, “Why my boy suffers for medical treatment?? Any answers Sir Sartaaj Azeez or Ma’am Sushma??” On May 31, Ms. Sushma Swaraj replied to the tweet saying, “No. The child will not suffer. Pls contact Indian High Commission in Pakistan. We will give the medical visa.”

Having won the battle with surgery, Rohaan lost his life due to dehydration. “Rohaan passed away last night. He fought and conquered the major heart surgery but slipped and fell into grave conditions due to dehydration,” tweeted Kanwal Sadiq, the baby’s 32-year-old father. Earlier, Kanwal had expressed his gratitude towards Minister for External Affairs Ms. Sushma Swaraj, as she had assured help in getting a medical visa.
