Triumph launches ‘Street Scrambler’ in India

Triumph Motorcycles has launched its Street Scrambler in India with a price tag of Rs 8.1 lakh (ex-showroom). The latest member of the modern classic family is based on the existing Street Twin but gets some off-roading characteristics as well.

The British bikemaker already had a Scrambler model based on the popular Bonneville in its product list. However, the new one looks much better and gets improved technology as well.

The new model looks inspired by the customised Scrambler model that was ridden by Chris Pratt in the Hollywood movie ‘Jurassic World.’ While the body work has also been carried forward from the Street Twin, the new Street Scrambler looks different with lots of minor changes.

The metal fuel tank gets knee-pad grip inserts for a better hold and the handlebar has also been raised a bit. The bike gets a split seat and its pillion part is interchangeable with an aluminium rack. The high mounted twin exhaust pipes and the classic wire-spoke wheels complete the scrambler look of the bike.

The spoke wheels come shod with dual sport tyres for optimum performance in both on- and off-road riding conditions. The front wheel is also a larger, 19-inch one to serve the purpose well and there is an engine guard provided for durability of the crankcase.

Powering the bike is the same 900cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin engine that also powers the Street Twin and the Bonneville T100. Mated to a five-speed gearbox, the eight-valve motor makes 55PS and delivers a peak torque of 80Nm at just 2,850rpm.
