In a move to hug mother nature, more than 13,000 students gathered at Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bengaluru.
The students hugged trees to create a new Guinness World Record. Students of at least 35 schools had gathered and they hugged the tree for a minute. The programme was organized by the Rotary Club and the Karnataka Civil Defence and the Horticulture Department.
The program was conducted based on the theme ‘My Tree My Life’ and the event was aiming at creating awareness among children about the importance of planting saplings for a good environment.
Children formed a human chain and took an oath to protect trees before taking part in the Appiko movement.
