KSRTC: Highest-ever daily collection on Jan 8

This New year at least brings good for KSRTC. The total revenue garnered from the ticket sales on Monday was Rs 7.44 crore. The previous record was Rs 7.33 crore registered on December 23, 2017.

The corporation attributed the record collection to the decision to put into operation maximum services based on requirements. To meet the heavy rush, the KSRTC has operated special buses from all the depots during weekends and start the week.

The total number of services operated from various depots on January 8 was 5,365. Of the Rs 7.44 crore, Rs 6,69,81,883 was generated by stage carriers while the services under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) contributed Rs 74,33,209.

Kollam topped the list with Rs 1.92 crore followed by Thiruvananthapuram (Rs 1.69 crore). The earnings from the 205 special services to Pampa on January 8 was Rs 33,61,802.

According to the authorities, if the daily collections touch Rs 7 crore, the KSRTC would not be incurring losses. At present, the KSRTC’s average daily revenue from ticket sales is Rs 6.25 crore.
