The name Kia doesn’t mean anything to indians. Its a south Korean company, officially known as the sister company of Hyundai. In india though, both Kia and Hyundai will be sold separately. But It will be great for Kia if it can use Hyundai’s after sales service department for itself .

Known internationally for its spacious and rich interiors Kia Sportage’s dashboard design looks stunning. It is definitely a cut above Renault Captur but even Hyundai Creta might have reasons to worry. On outside, this looks like a proper SUV but with a little more urban feel to it.
Kia sportage is available In a few engine options and it is not entirely sure which one will make it in to India. But we expect the 1.7 litre diesel engine to be the one that will do the job here. The 2.0 litre crdi engine is another option Kia has which is available in 134 bhp and 182 bhp. The entry level 1.6 litre petrol may not find a lot of buyers if it is introduced here. However the diesel can get quite noisy inside especially when it’s revved hard.
The suspension of Kia sportage is more sporty than soft. Considering that a lot of families are looking towards this segment, it will be something that Kia needs to address before getting here. If they can do minor tweaks to some of these niggling issues to suit more to the indian customer, then Kia can be a serious contender.
