The ” Digital Well-being” feature.

Most changes you make are usually designed keep you drawn towards the device but apparently ‘Digital Well being’ features are here to encourage you to spend less time on the phone! Yes you heard it right. For example it has an app ‘time limiter’ in which you can preset the time you want to spend on a particular program. So if you think you are becoming a Facebook addict, well keep a half an hour time on the app and the phone will remind you when its over. The wind down mode will automatically turn your screen to black and white after the preset time is over. The lack of colour is supposed to make you less enthusiastic about using it further.

Improved AI – Duplex

So Android Ps AI tech called Duplex is more advanced than ever as it will study your usage habits and direct the resources accordingly while providing you with proper suggestions. So If you use a particular app or make a call at a specific time everyday, you will get suggestions to do it at the same time. Also if you have apps that are rarely used, android P will not entertain resource requests from such apps and it will be used for more frequently used apps.

The Dashboard

Android P is going to have a detailed dashboard. Its an app that gives you information about your phone usage. So it will display how many minutes you have used your phone, a pie chart of the different durations you spent on each app and much more. It will be a detailed log book of every activity you do on your phone.

The upside down DND feature

DNDSo if your phone was sitting face-up on a table and then you put it face down, the phone will automatically turn on DND mode. With DND, the notifications will vanish and the only visual indication you will ever get from then will be a call from a starred contact. So if you are on a meeting and you wanna quickly go DND, this comes in as a handy feeature. But for this to work, the phone has to be placed in the face-up fashion initially. It won’t work if you keep the phone in face-down position straight out of your pocket.

Now the question is when will you get the updates, it depends on your phone maker. You can signup to help google test the new features and for the first time this facility is available for devices outside of Google’s line up.
