Suicide Bombing in three Churches in Indonesia. 9 killed.

Suicide bombers in Indonesia have attacked three churches at Surabaya, the second largest city of Indonesia on Sunday. The reports available at this point says that there are 9 killed and almost 35 injured and taken to hospital.So far no terrorist organization have come forward to claim the responsibility of the attacks.

Police said that the attacks were carried out by “suicide bombers” and that the toll could rise further.  In one of the visuals appeared in a television channel, a church was seen devoured by fire. Frang Barung Mangera, an East Java Police Spokeseman said “There is one location where we cant enter yet” possibly talking about the church on fire. A police bomb squad safety detonated an unexploded bomb that was discovered at Surabaya Central Pentacostal Church.

“All elements were quickly deployed to all vital places, especially places of worships. Three churches were attacked. Police arrested a person that was about to attack the otherwise a fourth target, the Cathedral Church. It has been foiled,” Surabaya deputy mayor Mr Wisnu Sakti Buana told Elshinta radio.

Militant activities have been on the rise recently in Indonesia, some of them are linked to the rise of Islamic State. It is not the first time churches are targeted in Indonesia, a similar attack occured in 2000 that killed about 20 people. The bombings are happening  only days after the islamic militants killed five members of an elite counter terrorism force on the outskirts of Jakarta.
