On Friday afternoon, Kakkanad experienced the wrath of a powerful gust of wind, causing significant damage to BEVCO’s premium outlet near the Infopark. A staff member reported that within a minute, the wind destroyed 250 cases of beer, totaling 2,500 bottles. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, with an employee stating, “A freezer crashed in the wind. Luckily neither the staff nor the consumers were injured.”
Meanwhile, a potential tragedy unfolded on Infopark road as live electric wires fell onto moving vehicles. Four vehicles on the road at Brahmapuram were affected, but passengers were safely evacuated after power supply through the wires was disconnected.
The impact of the wind extended beyond the outlet, causing damage to houses in and around Kakkanad. Additionally, trees along the seaport-airport road were uprooted, highlighting the widespread consequences of this sudden and forceful natural event.
