Bengaluru: False bomb threat targeting Raj Bhavan

An anonymous caller triggered panic in Bengaluru by informing the city police control room of a bomb purportedly planted at Raj Bhavan, the official residence of the Karnataka Governor. The call, received around 11:30 pm on Monday, prompted security forces to conduct thorough searches at Raj Bhavan throughout the early hours of Tuesday. However, the efforts yielded no suspicious objects, and the incident was eventually deemed a hoax. Control room personnel promptly alerted senior police officers upon receiving the call, leading to the deployment of bomb squads, a dog squad, and other police personnel for the search.

The caller, who made the call from a mobile phone, was traced to the Upparpet area. Police authorities have identified and apprehended the caller, who is currently undergoing questioning. The jurisdictional Vidhana Soudha police have initiated a case in connection with the incident. This incident follows closely on the heels of bomb threats targeting 48 schools in the city, reflecting a recent surge in false threats causing disruption and prompting security responses in Bengaluru.
