The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has clarified that December 14 is not the final date for individuals to update their address and other details in Aadhaar. Akshaya centres in Kerala, which offer various online services, have experienced a surge in visitors seeking Aadhaar modifications, erroneously believing that December 14 marked the deadline for such changes. This influx has disrupted other activities at the Akshaya centres. According to UIDAI, December 14 is only the deadline for availing the service free of charge on the ‘My Aadhaar’ portal. Post this date, Akshaya centres will continue to provide Aadhaar services for a fee of Rs 50. The statement from UIDAI does not specify whether changes to Aadhaar details on the My Aadhaar portal will still be possible after December 14.
