Ngidi Puts the Breaks on Kings X1. CSK won by 5 Wickets.

At this stage of the IPL very often team finds themselves in a position where they have to look for other results to go in their favour to qualify for the play offs. But luckier teams will have that match to themselves, so they don’t have to pray for some other team to play well. Both Kings x1 punjab and Mumbai Indians had their fate in their hands, they had to win today’s match, but neither of them did. CSK has beaten Kings X1 Punjab by 5 wickets.

Kings had their task cut out today. They had to either win with a margin of 53 plus runs or 38 plus balls to qualify. But Kings couldn’t even manage a victory as CSK successfully chased a target of 153 in overs. Suresh Raina led the chase with an unbeaten 48 ball 61. Deepak Chahar had a good day with both bat and ball picking 1 for 30 in his four overs and scoring 39 off 20 balls. But it was Luigi Ngidi who put the breaks on Kings X1 Punjab innings picking 4 wickets for 10 runs in his 4 overs.

Earlier Kings X1 punjab, when it needed it’s big guns to fire, had all of them falling cheaply. KL Rahul, their batting mainstay, Chris Gayle and Aaron Finch scored a combined aggregate of 11 runs. David Miller scored an almost run a ball 24. If it weren’t for Karun Nairs whirlwind 54 off 26, Punjab would have presented a more sorry looking score card.

With Punjab failing to qualification, Rajasthan Royals will qualify for play offs. They will meet Kolkata Knight riders in the eliminator while SRH and CSK will clash in the qualifier 1. The loser of qualifier 1 will meet the winner of RR-KKR match. Exciting days ahead, if you’re a cricket fan.
