DelhiDaredevils Knock Mumbai Indians Out of IPL

There won’t be any dramatic comeback from Mumbai Indians this time. The team is known for getting themselves in to tough situations and then win a number of matches on the trot to make it to the playoffs, but not in this edition. Playing a virtual knock out against Delhi daredevils, MI fell short by 11 runs against a disciplined DD attack .

Chasing 174, Mumbai was never in the game. Rohit Sarma continued his inexplicable habit of batting lower down the order and left his team in a mess. Nobody in the top order fired, except for Evin Lewis 48(31) and some late lusty hitting by Hardik Pandya 27(17) and Ben Cutting 37(20) wasn’t enough. The leg spinner duo of Lamichhane and Amit Misra picked three wickets each.

Earlier Delhi daredevil’s didn’t have the best of starts with the move to promote Glenn Maxwell not firing. Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer fell cheap but the young sensation Rishabh Pant 64(44) and all rounder Vijay Sankar 43(30)combined well to post a formidable total. Delhi, having gone out of the tournament already, played with freedom and ease to spoil the party for Mumbai. Now all eyes are on the CSK- Kings X1 Punjab match. Kings need to win by a huge margin to gain the sufficient net run rate to qualify for the playoffs.
