In Goa, no one to protect women in Parrikar’s absence : Goa Mahila Congress

On the wake of a recent spate of violence against women in Goa, Goa Mahila Congress alleged that the women’s security in the state was at stake in Manohar Parrikar’s absence. Parrikar holds the home portfolio in the state government and now suffering from a pancreatic ailment he is in the US for treatments.

Netta D Souza, All India Mahila Congress’ Goa in charge at a press conference said that as per the media reports there were 11 cases of rape registered in the state between April and end of May.

D’Souza understood that the able Home minister was ailing but she seemed worried about the rising number of rape cases in Goa. She announced that the Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress would start a helpline for the women in distress and the party would provide support to ensure justice to women.

D’Souza said that Goa was in ventilator due to Manohar Parrikar’s absence and that the people had to bear the brunt of it.
