Army fired at protestors throwing stones at soldiers in Kulgam district on Saturday and three civilians were killed including a teenage girl. Shakir Ahmed Khanday, Irshad Majeed and a teenage girl named Andleeb died on their injuries in hospital after clashes in Redwani village where the army was on a cordon and search operation.

Residents said army opened fire when unidentified men started throwing stones at them. Protestors later blocked roads in different parts of Kashmir and authorities switched off the mobile internet in the region after deaths. The region of Kashmir is under a security blanket as a measure to maintain peace before the second death anniversary of Kashmir separatist leader Burhan Wani.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a senior Hurriyat Conference leader who is under house arrest, said on Twitter security forces had fired “indiscriminately” at protesters and accused them of “massacre”.
