Expats Celebrate Onam All Thanks To Volunteers

As Onam 2018 is slowly approaching, the expats are reminiscing about the last year’s Onam celebrations that volunteers have put together

Oman’s Indian Social Club (ISC) has thanked the volunteers who made the 2017 Onam celebrations organized by its Malayalam Wing a standout success.

Held on September 21, 22 and 23, the celebrations were a result of the hard work and dedication of more than 200 volunteers, who contributed more than 10,000 hours of their time to ensure the festival went off without a hitch.

The preparation began 5 months prior to the festival, and all the groups of the Malayalam Wing had come together and synchronized. Nearly 3500 people had dined during the Onam feast.

All the raw products for the Onam Sadhya were procured from Oman

Since Onam is the main event for the ISC and had various cultural programs and activities for social welfare.

For the Onam Sadhya, at least a minimum of 200 volunteers had helped in making the feast, staying let into the night. The entire preparations for the festival took 10,000 man hours.

ISC hopes that they can send the message of and togetherness and brotherhood to all the people in the coming years as well.
