EICMA Motor Show 2023: Royal Enfield unveils 2023 Himalayan

Milan: Leading two-wheeler brand, Royal Enfield  unveiled the new Himalayan at the EICMA Motor Show in Milan, Italy. The motorcycle will be first launched in India before the end of this year, followed by Europe, Asia-Pacific region, and the Americas.

Royal Enfield   informed that the new the testing centres in the UK, Spain and India, have worked on developing the new Himalayan, and the motorcycle has been extensively tested for more than 5500km, from 22ft at Chennai to 19,024ft at UmLing La.

The bike is powered by more powerful Sherpa 450 engine, which is Royal Enfield’s first liquid-cooled engine. This 452cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, DOHC, EFI engine, develops 40.02PS of maximum power and 40Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The new engine features a semi-dry sump design and uses an integrated water pump and twin-pass radiator setup for optimum cooling. There is also a slip and assist clutch.

The 2023 Himalayan sits on a new steel twin-spar frame. The motorcycle has USD front forks with 200mm wheel travel and a monoshock at the rear with 200mm wheel travel. There is a 21-inch wheel at the front and a 17-inch wheel at the rear with newly-developed aluminium alloy rims and bespoke tyres. There is a disc each at the front (320mm) and rear (270mm). Also available is a switchable dual-channel ABS, where the rear ABS can be disabled.

The new Himalayan measures 2,245mm in length, 852mm in width and 1,316mm in height. It has a 1,510mm wheelbase and a 230mm ground clearance. There are two options for seat height — 805mm and 825mm. The seat height is adjustable in the range of 805mm to 845mm. The kerb weight of the motorcycle with 90% fuel and oil is 196kg.

Other features  include a new 17-litre fuel tank, split seats, ride-by-wire and TripperDash full map navigation TFT display. The new Royal Enfield Himalayan gets over 30 genuine motorcycle accessories, which can be configured to create two very distinctive, aspirational themes — Adventure and Rally. The Adventure accessories include bespoke box aluminium luggage, taller adventure screen, adventure seats and LED fog Lights. The Rally accessories have rally rear mudguard, slimmer one-piece rally seat, rackless soft bags and tail pack, rally handguards, sump guard and headlight guard.
