MVDA sealed BJP youth wing activist’s hotel.

Barely 15 days after starting its operations, a hotel ‘Guru Kripa Inn’ in Mathura, which is owned by BJP youth wing district in-charge of programmes, Shyam Singhal, was sealed by the Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority (MVDA) on Monday

Confirming the move, Chairman of MVDA, Yashu Rustagi, said that construction plans for the building were approved for a residential house but commercial activity was taking place there. She said that since the violation was not compoundable and facts had been misrepresented, the building was “unauthorized” and hence sealed.

She further stated that a notice was issued for the violation of the building plans but the owner failed to respond to it. She said, “our officials had earlier also objected when the basement of the building was being constructed in Feb but the owners paid no heed and went on with the construction”.

She claimed the owner had been warned about the violations but he ignored it. She said the hotel was sealed today with the help of police force.

When contacted, Shyam Singhal claimed that he was in possession of orders issued by the commissioner that the authority would merely carry out only an inspection of the building and there was no mention of sealing it. “MVDA has not followed the orders,” he claimed to add that the building was not a hotel but a “Jalpan grah”. Though he claimed that the building had been sealed “illegally”, a display sign on the building read “Hotel Guru Kripa Inn”
