Record 1000 flight are handled by Mumbai Airport in a day

Mumbai Airport broke its earlier record of 988 single-day arrivals and departures with a 1000 aircraft movements a day. A Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) spokesperson said that Mumbai Airport had achieved 1003 aircraft movement in 24 hours last day. With that Mumbai Airport corrected its own record as the world’s busiest airport and cemented that position for the posterity.

Mumbai’s Chathrapathi Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai is single runway operated one which handled 48.49 million passengers in Financial Year 2018 registering a 7.4% growth over Financial Year 2017. With the two crossing runways- 09/27(the main) and 14/32(the secondary runway), Mumbai Airport is the main hub of full-service carrier Jet Airways and budget airline GoAir.

The primary runway can handle up to 48 arrivals and departures/hour and the secondary runway can handle 35 flights/hour.
