A 17-year-old student committed suicide amid the live WhatsApp video call with his girlfriend.The deceased, hung himself from the ceiling of his rented accomodation in Kolkata.
His mother has registered a case against the girlfriend, accusing her of abetting the suicide. The police has booked the girl under IPC section 306 (abetment to suicide) in the first information report.

The incident was reported from Baruipur area in South 24 Parganas district. The police was alerted by the friends of deceased. After they were unable to reach him in the morning, they broke into his accomodation later in the day and found him hanging. The boy was taken to the nearest medical facility where he was declared dead on arrival.
Reports citing police sources claim the girl had informed at least one of their mutual friends that the deceased was about to commit suicide.
Friends of the duo claim they often quarreled with each other which led to them breaking apart few months ago. However, on the insistence of the boy, FE reports one friend as saying, the relationship was revived. The bereaved mother claims she had no idea her son was in touch with the girl after breaking up with her few months ago
