Even at the Face of Death, TamilNadu Stays Obstinate on Mullaperiyar Water Level.

Kerala to Approach Supreme Court

Kerala is going through one of the worst phases the state has ever seen. Help has been pouring in from many parts of the world while it’s friendly neighbour Tamilnadu has surprised everyone with its obstinacy on Mullaperiyar water level, even at the face of this calamity. The water level has already gone beyond 142 feet, which is the permitted water level.

An Idukki district resident Russel Joy has approached Supreme court alleging that to raise the water level to 144 feet, TamilNadu government is risking the lives of the Kerala citizens. He says both centre and Tamilnadu has been quite lax in following the orders of the supreme court and seeks immediate intervention of the court.

Tamilnadu earlier had refused to increase the amount of water released even when the water level touched 142 feet. The central government intervened to make it happen eventually. Tamilnadu was trying to show that the dam is strong enough to stand strong even at 142 feet.
Even though Tamil nadu government had taken a stand like this, Tamil actors and the general public have been very considerate to Kerala.
