Cyclone Hamoon: IMD predicts heavy rains in these states: Details

New Delhi:  The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in several states till 26 October. The national weather agency said that the  Cyclonic Storm Hamoon lay centered over the coastal Bangladesh on 25th October and is set to move northeastwards and weaken into a deep depression during next 6 hours. It will further weaken into a depression during subsequent 6 hours.

‘The Cyclonic Storm Hamoon over coastal Bangladesh lay centered at 0530 hours IST of 25th Oct about 40 km east-southeast of Chittagong (Bangladesh). To move northeastwards and weaken into a deep depression during next 06 hrs and further into a depression during subsequent 06 hrs,’ said IMD.

As per IMD, light to moderate rainfall is very likely at most places along with isolated heavy rainfall over Mizoram and Tripura on 25th October. The weather department has also predicted light to moderate rainfall at many places over Mizoram and Tripura on 26th October.

The weather department has also predicted light to moderate rainfall at many places over Nagaland and Manipur from 25-26th October and east Arunachal Pradesh on 25th and 26th October.

The IMD has also asked fishermen not to venture into North Bay of Bengal and along & off Odisha, West Bengal, Bangladesh and north Myanmar coasts during  25th October. It also asked fishermen to avoid adjoining areas of West Central till 24th October evening and East Central Bay of Bengal till 25th October morning.
