Police busts ISIS module, arrests two terrorists

Ranchi: The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) squad of Jharkhand Police busted a ISIS terror module and arrested two ISIS terrorists. The terrorists were  arrested from  Godda and Hazaribagh districts. The two were charged with cases under the UAPA and IPC sections.

One of the arrested is identified as  Ariz Hasnain, a resident of Asanbani area in Godda district. He allegedly used to meet youths on social media platforms and indoctrinate them. Ariz Hasnain allegedly confessed his links with ISIS and other proscribed terrorist groups based in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The other arrested is identified as Mohammad Naseem. He was in contact with Ariz Hasnain and had sent  Hasnain two books related to ‘jihad’ and ISIS ideology.

‘ Jharkhand ATS had received the information that Ariz Hasnain, a resident of Rahmat Nagar under Asanbani PS, Godda, was spreading ISIS ideology through social media and radicalising innocent people. Acting upon the information, ATS interrogated him and found his association with ISIS. During sustained interrogation, he revealed another person named Mohammad Naseem also associated with ISIS. ATS has also recovered the suspicious chats on Ariz’s mobile through Telegram. Ariz wanted to go to Palestine and carry out a Fidayeen attack at Majid Al Aqsa to free it from Jews’, ATS was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Earlier, a joint team of Uttar Pradesh ATS and the Chhattisgarh police arrested a suspected ISIS terrorist in Durg. Wajihuddin, a resident of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, was held from Smriti Nagar in Chhattisgarh.
