Sheikh Zayed Festival: UAE authority launches free bus services

Abu Dhabi: The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) in Abu Dhabi introduced free public transport bus services to visitors going to the 114-day-long Sheikh Zayed Festival.

The  free buses at a frequency of 30 minutes will be offered to transport visitors from three different locations in Abu Dhabi and the suburbs. The route starts from the Central Bus Station in Abu Dhabi City, goes to the Co-operative Society Supermarket in Rabdan, the Baniyas Court parking space, and finally to the festival venue in Al Wathba.

Trips start from 3pm until 10pm from Mondays to Thursdays, and return service from the festival site begins from 4.30pm till 11.30pm. Also, from Fridays to Sundays and on public holidays, the trips start at 3pm and run until 9.30pm, and return service starts at 4.30pm and ends at midnight.

The 2023 edition of the Sheikh Zayed Festival has began in Abu Dhabi’s Al Wathba on Friday. The festival opens from 4pm to midnight, and until 1am during weekends and on public holidays.

The 114-day festival is held under the patronage of UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and under the direct supervision of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court.

The festival is named after the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. More than 2.5 million visitors and 7 million followers and viewers enjoyed the activities of the last edition.

Visitors can enjoy fireworks display and drone show on the opening day of the festival. Thereafter, fireworks will be there every Saturday at 10pm. The festival introduces a first-of-its-kind ‘Flora and Fauna Reserve’ with unique and rare animals and birds on display.

The festival has ‘House of Horror’, ‘Heritage Village’, ‘Fun City’, ‘Union Parade’, the biggest custom car show challenge, the ‘Emirates Fountain’, the ‘Glow Flower Garden’, the ‘Flying Restaurant’, the ‘Children’s Village’, an agricultural excellence award, an art district, various competitions, and draws. It will also host fantastic live performances, entertaining shows, and more activities and surprises.
