State Information Commissioner A Abdul Hakeem has imposed a Rs 5,000 fine on a forest department official for violating the Right to Information Act (RTI) by neglecting to disclose required information, including name, official address, and phone number. P C Beena, stationed at the Wayanad district forest office, faced the penalty for concealing her details and delaying the response to an RTI application filed by a resident of Kozhikode.

In addition to the non-disclosure of personal information, Beena was also found to have disobeyed the Commissioner’s directive to provide a copy of the official note received from her predecessor. The Commissioner has mandated that Beena furnish the official note to the complainant within 15 days and submit an action taken report within 25 days.
