Indian man that harassed South Korean vlogger gets arrested

An Indian man from Pune city in western India, identified as Bharat Unchale, was arrested following the circulation of a viral video showing him harassing a South Korean vlogger named Kelly. The incident, which occurred in the Ravet area of Pune’s Pimpri Chinchwad during the Diwali festival in November, led to widespread outrage.

The video depicted Unchale putting his hand around Kelly’s neck and making inappropriate gestures as she engaged with locals in a market. Another man joined in later, and despite Kelly’s attempts to distance herself, the harasser persisted, causing further discomfort. In the video, Kelly expressed her need to leave the area, stating, “I have to run from here,” and commenting, “They really like to hug.”

The crime branch of Pimpri Chinchwad Police located and arrested Bharat Unchale after the video went viral. He faces charges under the Indian Penal Code, including section 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and section 294 (punishment for obscene acts or words in public). The police are conducting further investigations into the matter.

This incident drew parallels with a similar occurrence in Mumbai last year when a Korean woman was harassed during an online livestream. In that case, the video showed a man grabbing the YouTuber by her hand and attempting to kiss her while she was broadcasting live. Two men were later arrested by the Mumbai police in connection with that incident.
