Protests escalate as the Nava Kerala Sadas reaches its concluding phase

As the Nava Kerala Sadas approached its final phase, protests against the government surged, leading to intense clashes. The Congress, responding to internal party pressure, joined the fray after maintaining a relatively subdued stance. In the state capital, the Youth Congress secretariat march concluded in a fierce street confrontation between its members and the police, resulting in 22 arrests and five registered cases related to the violence.

Congress-led marches to 564 police stations statewide also saw incidents of violence. In Kochi, clashes between Congress workers and the police prompted the use of water cannons to disperse the protesters. Similar clashes occurred during police station marches in Nadapuram and Beypore. Ongoing confrontations between Youth Congress-KSU workers and DYFI activists added to the state’s tense atmosphere. Leader of the Opposition V D Satheesan warned of strong retaliation if the government failed to address their demands, emphasizing their readiness to respond to each attack received. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan asserted that no attempts to intimidate him would be successful, challenging critics to consult with K Sudhakaran regarding such endeavors.
