Mumbai:  India made some remarkable achievements in this year. 2023 will be remembered in Indian sports history for generations to come.

Here are top five moments of  Indian sports in this year:

Neeraj Chopra wins gold medal at the World Athletics Championships:

Neeraj Chopra won  a gold at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. He won the top spot by a throw of  88.17 meters. he became  the first-ever Indian athlete to win a gold at the World Athletics Championships.

 

Virat Kohli overtakes Sachin Tendulkar: Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli smashed his 50th ODI century in the World Cup semifinal against New Zealand. Thus he  move past his cricketing idol Sachin Tendulkar.  Sachin took to the social media platform X to pen down a heartfelt note for Virat and congratulated him for the feat.

India cross 100-medal mark in Asiad:

Indian athletes crossed  the 100-medal mark for the first time in their Asiad history.  Gold in the Dressage team category, steeplechase, women’s 5000 m, and women’s javelin among others became several firsts for India. India opened its account with a silver in the women’s 10m air rifle (shooting) event and ended with another silver in the Men’s chess team event to finish with 107 medals.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty win gold medal in Asian Games:

The Indian badminton pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won gold medal in the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. The world no. 3, Satwik and Chirag defeated  Republic of Korea’s Choi Sol Gyu and Kim Won Ho 21-18, 21-16 in straight sets in the final. Thus, the Indian duo  become the first Indians to win an Asiad gold in the sport.

Indian kabaddi  teams reclaims lost crown: The men’s and the women’s kabaddi teams returned home with gold medals from China.  The women’s team defeated  Chinese Taipei 26-25 and regain the gold medal at the Asian Games. The men’s team defeated Iran in the final to win the top spot.
