Union government extends import duty exemption on Masur dal till this date

New Delhi: Union government has extended the import duty exemption on masur dal by one year till March 31, 2025. The exemption, which has been in effect since October 2021, was to be over on March 31, 2024.

Earlier on December 8, Union government exempted yellow peas (tur) from import duties until the end of this financial year. The government in January extended the duty-free import policy for tur & urad until March 31, 2024.

Earlier the UnionĀ  government has extended the reduced import duty regime for some of the key edible oils by a year. The government will allow the import of edible oils at lower import tax rates until March 2025.

The lower import duty regime on crude palm oil, crude sunflower oil and crude soyoil was originally set to expire in March 2024. The basic import duty on refined soyabean oil and refined sunflower oil was reduced from 17.5 per cent to 12.5 per cent.
