Taylor Swift breaks legend Elvis Presley’s record as a soloist with most weeks at No 1 spot on the Billboard 200

In a remarkable achievement, Taylor Swift has surpassed Elvis Presley’s record as the solo artist with the most weeks at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The announcement was made by Billboard on Sunday, revealing that Swift has spent an impressive 68 weeks at the top, surpassing the legendary Elvis Presley, who held the record with 67 weeks at No. 1.

Swift’s journey to the top of the Billboard chart began with her 2008 album Fearless, which spent 11 weeks at No. 1 between 2008 and 2009. Subsequently, her following albums, including Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights, added a significant 47 weeks at the No. 1 position.

The re-recorded versions of Swift’s albums, namely Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), and 1989 (Taylor’s Version), further solidified her historic position in music. These re-releases contributed an additional 10 No. 1 positions on the Billboard 200.

While Swift has surpassed Presley’s solo artist record, she still has a considerable distance to cover to surpass The Beatles, who spent a total of 132 weeks at the No. 1 spot across their 19 albums between 1964 and 2001.

The year 2023 has been marked by Taylor Swift’s extraordinary success, highlighted by her Eras Tour, which kicked off in Arizona in March. The tour comprised a 35-show run concluding in Los Angeles in August. Additionally, the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour film, released in October, garnered massive ticket sales, earning an impressive $92.8 million in the US. Swift’s dominance in the music industry continues to make waves and solidify her status as one of the most influential artists of our time.
