Karnataka: Parents take over children’s fight; police called in

To solve the quarrel between two students, their parents were called in. That is a normal situation. But it got out of hand.

Dramatic incidents took place at a government school in Angola Taluk in Karnataka.

Two students of the school fought with each other- a minor dispute. One of the students went and told his family of the incident. Hearing it, his mother and grandmother marched into the school and scolded the child and gave him a slap as well.

This was not tolerated by the parents of the slapped student. And to solve the issue for once and for all, the teachers had called in both the parents.

What started out as a calm PTA meeting quickly escalated.

On Thursday PTA meeting, the parents came. But rather than resolving the issue, it increased. The parents took up the children’s quarrel and it soon became a mass fight with name calling, mud throwing, followed by hurling footwear at each other.

The school ground was trampled and destroyed. And the final resort by the school faculty- to call the police. The fight broke off after the police intervened.
