Majority of Indian youth prefers this more than their loved ones

The Twenty-first Century is known as the age of new technologies and the one which more than anyone caught the attention of people was the smartphone. It became an indispensable part of the youth to such an extent that they are often called addicted. But many a time people often don’t realise how big the problem this addiction is.

A study by telecommunications company Motorola, which is developed in partnership with Nancy Etcoff — an expert in ‘Mind-Brain Behaviour and the Science of Happiness’, from Harvard University conducted a recent survey which shows that 33 percentage youth in the world prefer their Smartphone more than their loved ones. At the same time in India, this stands at a staggering 47 percent.

“We, as a generation, are losing control of our lives.Over half of the respondents (53 percent) described their smartphones as their best friend and companion. India tops the chart with 65 percent,” the study, issued by the independent research company Ipsos, noted.

In India, while the percentage of people who wants to keep a balance between Phone and life is 64, Overall it is 61 percent.

“Approximately 50 percent people agreed that they check their phone more often than they would like and nearly 44 percent felt compelled to perpetually check their phones. India figures at the top with 65percentt and 57 percent respectively,” the study found.

35 percent of the people responded that they spend too much time with smartphones while it is 48 percent.

“India stands at the top in emotional overdependence of phone with 77 percent of respondents admitting that they panic when they lose their phone,” the study said.

53 percent of Indians said they would be happier if they spent lesser time on a smartphone.
