Minor abuse: criminal complaint filed against teacher

In an offence against minors in schools, a school teacher in Lucknow hurt a seven year old boy because he didn’t attend his roll call. The teacher in question slapped the boy atleast 40 times in two minutes. The teacher of St. John Vianney School in Uthretia, Lucknow not only went on a slapping spree, but also banged the minor’s head on the blackboard when he failed to answer her call for marking attendance in the class on Wednesday. The incident was caught in the CCTV camera installed in the classroom.

When Sunny (name changed) returned home with swollen face and bruises and narrated the ordeal to his mother, his parents rushed to the school to lodge a complaint against the teacher. When the school management took out the CCTV footage they were shocked to find the merciless thrashing. During the slapping episode, other students in the classroom were seen hiding their faces under the table.

After seeing the footage, the school Principal Father Ronald Rodrigues sacked the teacher with immediate effect and constituted a committee for further action. “Slapping is banned in our school. We will initiate further action against the erring teacher after the committee report,” assured the Principal.

Sunny is now scared of going to school again. Parents are seeking help from counselors and have also lodged a complaint at the SGPGI Police Station. “We have received a complaint against a achool teacher. We will register a case against the teacher after initial investigation is done,” said Brajesh Rai, the SHO.
