TV director blackmails a married woman with porn clip in Dubai

A TV director has gone on trial for allegedly blackmailing a married woman and extorting money from her.

The Court of First Instance heard that the 43-year-old Lebanese man took the Algerian woman’s break-up with him bitterly and hacked her Facebook account using Photoshop application to alter her pictures inappropriately and post messages on her page to disgrace her among her family members and friends.

In the court, he faced charges of blackmail and extortion by threat of defamation, breach of privacy and harassment by telecommunication services.

The case was reported to Al Qusais police station.

A police lieutenant said a woman based in France sent Dubai Police a complaint via several e-mails in May.
“She said that a man living in the UAE was threatening her. She told us how she had met him about three years back and how he promised to help her get her a job. He took pictures of her with his mobile phone after they got close,” the officer said.

“Two years later, he started harassing and threatening her. He posted inappropriate lines next to the photos he took and other family pictures (the complainant with her husband and children) on her Facebook account. He described them as fraudsters living in France.”

Because of him, the complainant faced problems with her husband resulting in a divorce.

The defendant threatened he would keep posting such inappropriate messages about her until she would pay around Dh87,000.

He confessed he threatened he would make a porn clip of her using her pictures.

His mobile phones were seized. Many pictures relevant to the case were found stored in the photo galleries.

The court is expected to issue a ruling on January 30, 2018.
