Women-only island; would you visit this men-banned island?

Want a break from men? Or a testosterone-free place to unwind?

Then head to SuperShe island.

SuperShe Island is being billed as a new island oasis off the coast of Finland where no men are allowed.

Founded by Kristina Roth, a consultant whose company was listed on Forbes’ list of fastest-growing women-run businesses in 2016; the new resort promises to be a relaxing female-only oasis – as Roth has enforced a strict no-men policy, according to an international newspaper.

The idea for a vacation destination exclusively for females came to Roth while she was taking a restorative vacation in Calabasas, California and noticed the effect men had on the good vibes when they arrived. “When there was a cute guy, women would put on lipstick,” Roth told the paper.

But at SuperShe island, testosterone won’t be a relaxation interference, as Roth told the paper: “The idea at SuperShe Island is, hey, focus on yourself – don’t try to get your hormones up.”

However, if it seems like Roth hates men, that’s not the case.

Despite the seemingly exclusionary approach, Roth said she “loves men” – and could even be open to male guests in the future. But for now, a representative for SuperShe told an international newspaper: “Women need time to spend with other women” where they can “nurture each other’s dreams and desires.”

Although she was initially reluctant to buy an island in Finland, she says once she saw it, she fell in love with its bucolic tranquility.

Located approximately one-and-a-half hours from Helsinki airport, the island boasts lush wooded areas and serene waters, and the Pinterest-worthy cottages on the property are equipped with luxurious features like fireplaces, decks and designer linens.

In an interview with an international women’s magazine, a representative stated that the island is substance-free in order to “focus on health and wellness” since “many people use these retreats as an opportunity to reset their lives.”

Unfortunately, while the island may sound like a dream come true, it is currently only in use by Roth’s friends – with tentative plans to open to the public in June.

And according to the SuperShe website, you must apply for exclusive membership before you can go.

To apply, women must fill out an application with name, phone number, and why they are excited about the SuperShe Community. Eager applicants can also upload a video message as part of their applications.

But once the island is officially ready for visitors, women “can expect activities such as yoga, meditation, healthy eating, cooking classes, fitness classes, and much more,” according to the representative for SuperShe.

As of now, the cost for a trip to SuperShe has not been announced – but we imagine a trip to male-free paradise won’t come cheap; though: a virtually all-inclusive seven-day stay starts at US$3,500.
