This ”Bollywood actress” and charming Dulquer Salmaan grace the cover of a leading magazine

Dulquer Salmaan is beyond any doubt one of the most popular young stars in Malayalam cinema today. Merely 31 years of age, the charismatic heartthrob enjoys a strong fan following thanks to his good looks, impressive body of work and uber-cool personality. Moreover, he has won the love of moviegoers courtesy his bindass yet humble nature.  Now, DQ is in the limelight for an awesome reason. As it so happens, the star and Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone recently graced the cover of a leading magazine and grabbed plenty of attention for all the right reasons.

Sporting a formal number, DQ looked a million bucks and made several young hearts skip a beat. His shy smile and relaxed body language gelled quite well with his look, upping its recall value in a big way.  Similarly, Deepika too looked lovely and came across as a an absolute diva. That’s what we call a perfect combination.  We sincerely hope that DQ and DP do a film together soon as they will make one awesome pair indeed!

On a related note, Dulquer was last seen in the highly ambitious ‘Solo’ and delivered a sincere performance. Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, it received mixed reviews upon release and ultimately proved to be a commercial disappointment. It even ran into a major controversy when the producers altered its climax with the director’s consent. Following this, DQ had written letter and made it clear that he would support the director’s original version to the fullest.

“I stand by Bejoy Nambiar. And his version. Always. Cutting, shuffling or whatever by persons unrelated to the making of the film will also aid in killing it,” he had said.

At present, he has ‘Mahanati’ and ‘Karwaan’ in his kitty. ‘Mahanati’ is basd on the life of yesteryear actress Savitri and will see him essay a character modelled on the legendary Gemini Ganesan. Sometime ago, he had said that he will not resemble ‘Kadhal Mannan’ in this one.

“I’m not going to look like him. I can’t, honestly, and I don’t want to wear prosthetic. My approach is simple. I would like to be me in the 1950s and play myself if I was a big movie star. I don’t think I should attempt to play Gemini Ganesan, and the director also agreed. You don’t really have any off screen footage of him. You don’t know what kind of person he was off screen,” he had told a leading website.

As far as ‘Karwaan is concerned, it is his first Bollywood film and will see him share screen space with Irrfan Khan. Sometime ago, he had said that he open to working in more Hindi films if he gets goods offers.

“I don’t see myself coming to compete with anybody. There is enormous talent here. I am here only to do good work. I do not want to lose my focus in the Malayalam film industry. That is where I primarily work. I will work in Tamil and Hindi only based on the work I get offered,” he had said.

Talking about the film, he had said that it is funny and lighthearted.

“It should be out in April or May next year. It is called Karwaan. It has me, Mithila Palkar, Irrfan Khan and Amala Akkineni. It is a pretty interesting cast. It is a road trip film and is funny and light-hearted,” he had added.

As far as Deepika is concerned, she currently has ‘Padmavatii’ in her kitty. The film is a period drama and has been directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It has been embroiled in controversy for a while now as several fringe groups have objected to it and even issued threats to DP. A short while ago, Kannada star Upendra had addressed the controversy and said that wrecking our system is not acceptable.

“We have a system. If we wreck it, what will our society become? There are certain rules to follow and we also have a Censor Board. I’m not saying don’t protest against something you don’t like. You can protest (peacefully), call the director and speak with him,” he had added.
