After the West Bengal panchayat elections that were held 2 weeks back, the state witnessed 2 political murders.
Claiming that they were not satisfied with the initial investigation, the victim’s kin demanded that the case be investigated by the CBI.
Only that is not to happen so.
The Supreme Court on Friday had rejected the plea requesting that the West Bengal’s ‘political murder’ cases that took place in Purulia district be handled by the CBI.
A vacation bench of Justices A K Goel and Ashok Bhushan asked the petitioners to approach the Calcutta High Court for the relief.

Advocate Gaurav Bhatia, appearing for petitioners, said that it is a serious matter as the killing of BJP workers has taken place after the panchayat polls in Purulia district.
The first political murder took place on the 30th of May, when 18-year-old Tirlochan Mahato, a BJP worker was hanged to death on a tree.
Mahato’s death was followed by another BJP worker, a 32-year-old Dulal Kumar, was found dead in a similar manner from an electric pole.
The petition was filed by Kumar’s father, who sought a CBI probe into the killings.
